  2. Message from Vienna!
After a good journey by train to London and the underground to Heathrow we arrived very excited and ready to fly. After a short delay due to terrible weather in Vienna we took off and enjoyed a pleasant flight ( weather not a problem) we arrived and had a 2 hour delay waiting for our luggage to be unloaded ... The pupils were extremely patient and eventually made our way by train into Vienna and our hotel ( 9.30pm Austrian time) we has missed our restaurant booking but luckily McDonalds was just over the road from the hotel complete with a McCafe which served beautiful cakes and donuts ... Yum yum
Soon after we retired for the night exhausted.

Monday morning and breakfast at 8am. Everyone had slept well and enjoyed croissants, juice and coffee before heading back on the underground to the theatre in the heart of Vienna. Spent the next 4 hours rehearsing the play ,
which is coming together very nicely. The pupils are 'Crossing the Barriers' and mixing well with their friends from Poland, Germany and Austria.

  3. Continued ...... After a very long afternoon rehearsing we had a few hours to do some sightseeing ... It was nice to be in the sunshine as the theatre is underground and dark. We sat and had a drink and a slice of cake on the terrace of The Imperial Palace (very nice) and at 5pm we met everybody for 'The Time Travel' experience !!!!! For part of this we were in a 5D cinema ..... Rats running through our legs and birds flying around our faces ... Mrs Fowkes was screaming.

Later we ate in a nice restaurant before returning back to our hotel on the underground and enjoying a McFlurry Ice cream .... Well McDonalds is just next door so it's a must !!!!!!
After another long and tiring day it wasn't long before we headed off to bed.

This morning we were up at 7am and went down for breakfast before heading back into the city for more rehearsals .... It's the big day today so lots of practice this morning before the dress rehearsal and the big performance tonight. The pupils are marvellous and wait patiently for their turn ... they are a credit to the school and always have a smile on their faces and mix well with all the other students.

    To be continued .........

  4. Continued ........ What a brilliant performance last night .... The audience loved it and congratulated all the four countries for working so hard together and crossing the barriers. The pupils were very pleased to have finally completed the task that was given to them 18 months ago .
We left the theatre at 9.45pm and headed back to the hotel. It wasn't long before we were tucked up in bed, worn out and fast asleep.

We were up this morning at 6.30 for breakfast at 7.00. We then said goodbye to Miss Ford before heading back to the theatre for this mornings two performances for the children and staff of the Austrian School .

Lunch is around 12.00 and then we are free to do anything we like for the rest of the afternoon. The children fancy a trip up the very tall Danube tower which is said to have a revolving restaurant with wonderful views of the city (we hope there is a lift !!!!!!) Later at 6.30pm we are heading off for our party night on the boat.

    To be continued .........

  5. .... The end is here ... We are sitting in Departutres at Vienna Airport
We have had a brilliant couple of days. After the last performance we left the theatre and it was RAINING !!!
So we cancelled our plans to go up the Donau Tower and headed back to the hotel for a cake and hot drink before a relaxing afternoon, which was an excellent idea as the evening's festivities turned out to be a fantastic party which went on late into the night. It was on a boat, on the water but we didn't actually sail anywhere. The food was lovely and the pupils could help themselves as many times as they wanted too. After a lot of dancing and gift exchanging we headed back to the hotel. A good evening was had by all.

On Thursday after saying goodbye to the Polish and German schools we visited the very friendly staff and pupils at the Austrian school and had lunch there before heading into Vienna and a trip on the 'ring tram' around the city looking at all the famous monuments and buildings. This was followed by a trip to the 'Parter' a fun fair in the beautiful sunshine and had a amusing couple of hours on the rides.

Afterwards we went up the Donau Tower with 360 degree views of the city from over 150m high. We sat in the revolving cafe with a drink and watched the sunset while we rotated around the city ( very impressive)

We ate pizza in a nice restaurant close to the hotel and then said goodbye to our wonderful Austrian hosts.

    What a wonderful experience

    See you all next week
